Answer: It's supposed to be room temperature. The rice is very hot when you make them. When they cool to room temperature, they stick together better.

Room temperature is best, perhaps with a slight chill equal to an air conditioned room, but not refrigerated. Hot rice will screw everything up- let it cool.
